: The Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination results for the class 10 students of Tamil Nadu were announced on 19 May, 2017 at 10 AM. The overall passing percentage for TN SSLC Results 2017 has been 94.4% this year, which is 0.8% higher than last year’s result. Girls recorded a better result than the boys with a pass percentage of 96.2% while the boys only managed a pass percentage of 92.5%. A total of 9,82,097 students had appeared for the TN Class 10 Exams 2017 out of which 4,91,226 were girls and 4,90,870 were boys.

This year, the SSLC exams were conducted by the Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) Tamil Nadu from 8 – 30 March, 2017. Last year the TN SSLC 10th result was announced on 25 May, 2016. The overall pass percentage was 92.9%. The pass percentage for boys who appeared for the Tamil Nadu SSLC exam last year was 88.79% while for girls it was 89.25%. The Directorate of Government Examinations was formed as a separate Directorate in 1975 in the month of February. The first secondary school leaving certificate examination was conducted in 1911.
