Second round of RTE admissions to be held from 12May to 14 May
The second round of RTE admissions in class 1 under the Right to Education Act 2009 (RTE) will commence from May 12 to May 14, 2022, as announced by the State Education Department in Ahmedabad.
After the first round, approx 65000 students were invited for admissions, of which 53, 387 students confirmed the same while 18, 028 seats across the state remained vacant. It is expected that these seats will be filled during the second round of RTE admissions. The State Government made available 71,154 seats under RTE in 9957 schools across the state.
This year, approximately 1.93 lakh forms were filled, out of which, 1.76 lakh applications were accepted, and 16,629 forms got rejected. It is the highest number of forms ever in the state after RTE came into effect. The reason for form rejections is; a lack of necessary documents or wrongly uploaded documents. The students seeking admissions in the second round have to visit the website of RTE using their application number, and date of birth, and choose their school preferences.
Once the student shares the choice of schools, they are required to take a printout of the same for future references. These print out a student has to show at the receiving centers.
The last date for submitting forms online was April 11, 2022. The parents were also given 3 days more time to rectify mistakes in the forms and re-submit them. The best part about RTE admissions is that almost 70,000 children from economically weaker sections of society will be admitted to private schools. The government gives a grant of a maximum of Rs 13,000 per child to the schools as per the RTE regulations.
