Maharashtra Board website publicizes model question papers for Standard XI
Students in the final stages of the year end exams will be elated as novel tidings that have been making the rounds since morning reveal that the Maharashtra Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has promulgated the paper pattern, and model question papers for Standard XI students. The board affirmed this piece of news in the morning, after it uploaded the blue print and the papers on its official website for students to see.
"The teachers already know that the examination question paper has to be set in this manner. The state board does not conduct examinations for standard XI but individual junior colleges do. But to ease the process, we will upload some model papers so that students can practice," Shakuntala Kale, chairperson of Maharashtra Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, said.
In accordance with the paper pattern that was uploaded last month, exam duration for the subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Biology will be of 3 hours, with each paper being graded out of a maximum of 70 marks. The remaining 30 marks will test the practical knowledge of students by conducting practical exams for the aforesaid subjects. The mathematics and statistics paper though, will follow a different pattern, with the theory paper having a maximum of 80 marks while the practical exam will be graded out of a maximum 20.
"We will upload model papers for standard XII board later, as the new pattern will be applicable only next year. We have tried to make our examination such that students while preparing for the board exams are also preparing for JEE and NEET," Kale said.
The performance of all students will be evaluated on the basis of how much knowledge they have retained, their understanding of it, and their skills of applying that knowledge to practical use. Grading of the paper will follow a pattern too, with 30, 40, and 30% of the total marks being allotted to each of the aforementioned areas respectively.
For the CBSE exam too, the weightage to each chapter within each subject, and the difficulty level has been defined in the notification which is available on the website.
