Viral Reports of English Exam Paper Leak Mar First Day of Maharashtra HSC Board Exams
22 February, 2018: The MSBHSE HSC Class XII exams for 2018 started yesterday across its nine divisions with 14.85 students registering for the exams to be held until the 20th of March, 2018.
Indian Express reported yesterday that there were unconfirmed reports of the English examination paper being leaked and going viral on Whatsapp within an hour of the examination starting. The MSBSHSE immediately sprung into action by instituting an inquiry, though officials called the rumours, "technically ... not a paper leak".
The board has already taken stringent actions to ensure that the exams are conducted smoothly and there are no instances of cheating. The board has strict new rules in place, as we had reported earlier, including an entry-exit policy, specific timings for entering the examination hall, policies about the opening of the question paper bundles, and limits to the number of students in each class of the exam venue. The board has also increased the number of flying squads to keep a check on examination centres across the state.
Of the 14,85,132 students who have registered for the Maharashtra Board HSC exams, 5,80,820 students are from the Science stream, 4,79,863 students from the Arts stream, 3,66,756 students from the Commerce stream, and 57,693 students from the Vocational stream. Of the registered candidates 8.34 lakh students are boys and 6.50 lakh students are girsl. The exams are being organized at 9,486 junior colleges and 2,822 centres across the state.
