DELHI UNIVERSITY TO SCRAP 50% INTERNAL QUOTA IN PG
16 February, 2018: Students from Delhi University students may have to say goodbye to the 50% reservation quota in the varsity’s post-graduate seats from the coming academic year. Delhi University’s academic committee on Thursday decided to introduce entrance exams for admissions into post-graduate programmes.
The decision will now be sent to the VC for appraisal and should the authority consider its credibility to be legitimate, it will be up for approval. Up until now, 50% of the PG seats in the state were reserved for DU’s undergraduate students who were admitted on merit. Entrance tests were conducted for the rest of the seats, for which DU students could also appear. An official said that the committee was planning to create a centralised platform for holding entrance exams for all 45 PG courses.
