National Institute Of Technology, Silchar is an Institute of higher education situated in Silchar, Assam. NIT Silchar is one of the 30 National Institutes of Technology and was established in 1967 as a Regional Engineering College. In 2002 it was upgraded to the status of National Institute of Technology and was declared as Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007. NIT Silchar offers undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering, science and humanities. The institute has 11 departments with about 200 faculty members and around 2000 enrolled students.
