The Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) is state/ public university, set up in 2007 to cater to the higher education requirements of the people in Nalgonda district in Telangana. MGU is the only university in the district of Nalgonda although it has some engineering, medical, science and pharmacy colleges.

Currently MGU Nalgonda offers 6 PG courses (economics, English, MFC, mathematics, MCA and MBA.) There are also plans to introduce courses in micro-biology and computer science.
