Enjoying the status of being the “largest open schooling system in the world”, the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) caters to more than 27 lakh students at Secondary, Senior Secondary & Vocational levels.

NIOS is an ISO 9001:2008 certified organisation which was earlier known as the National Open School (NOS) and its aim is to provide education through the open and distance learning (ODL) mode. This open school provides education from classes 1 - 12. As part of this endeavour it also conducts the secondary (class 10) and senior secondary (class 12) public examinations. The exams are conducted twice a year - once in March - April and once again in October - November. The board has released the NIOS exam schedule 2016 for March/ April exams:

Exam fee: Rs.250 per subject (pay additional Rs.120 for subjects with practicals)

Registration dates for April 2016 exam (without late fee):
1 - 31 December, 2015
Registration for April 2016 exam (with late fee of Rs. 100 per subject): 1 - 10 January, 2016
Registration for April 2016 exam (with consolidated late fee of Rs. 1500): 11 - 20 January, 2016
NIOS secondary (class 10) exam schedule, 2016:
31 March - 28 April, 2016
NIOS senior secondary (class 12) exam schedule, 2016:
29 March - 6 May, 2016
NIOS result date 2016: 1st week of June, 2016 (tentative)

Your intimation/ hall ticket/ admit card for the April 2016 exams will be made available online on the official website, www.nios.ac.in. You will be able to get your hall ticket for your secondary/ senior secondary exams by entering your 11 or 12 digit roll number and by answering a security question.

There has been a revision in the “common core curriculum” of the sr. secondary course (class XII) for the following subjects:
