28th February 2017: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) Board Exams for Class 10 (matriculation) and Class 12 (intermediate) has commenced on Feb 18, 2017, Saturday. Almost 8 lakh students across 1385 centres in Jharkhand have appeared at the exams.
The first exam for Class 10 students was home science and commerce whereas for class 12 students, the exam started with the compulsory core language subject (Either English or Hindi).
A total number of 4,66,746 students across 941 centres are appearing for matriculation exams under JAC in this year. A total of 3,26,107 students will take part in the intermediate exams that would be conducted across 444 centres.
Chairman of Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) said that the exams went well since day one as there were no reports of cases on cheating or management glitches. Therefore over 1300 centres were managed properly.
Jharkhand Board results, including JAC matric result (for class 10) and JAC inter result (for class 12) would be declared in advance as it is a board exam that started earlier in the country.
The Global Investors Summit in Ranchi in Feb 16 led to the postponement of JAC exams of class 10 and 12 which were also set to commence from Feb 16. The JAC had mentioned the reason for postponing its exam. They said that potential problems might occur in commuting for the students during the days of the summit, thus resulting in rescheduling of the exam.
Both class 10 and 12 students who had their exams on Feb 16th and 17th will have those exams postponed to March 2nd and 3rd. The rest of the schedule will stay intact with no changes in scheduling say officials. JAC Board exams would end on 7th March.
