27 February, 2018: Across the state, several different reports of cheating during exams has gained spotlight during the Maharashtra HSC Class 12 board exams currently underway. The exams started on the 21st of Feb 2018 and are scheduled to go on till the 22nd of March 2018. The SSC class X boards are scheduled to begin day after tomorrow on 1st March, 2018.

On the very first day of the exam, there were reports of the English paper being leaked via Whatsapp. The MSBHSE has instituted a team to conduct a probe into the matter and will be registering a complaint with the Cyber Crime cell depending on the findings of the team.

In the first session itself, 125 cases of cheating were recorded across the state. On the first day of the exam, nine students were barred from taking the examination. Aurangabad division has reported a total of 107 cases of cheating till date. In Beed district, in Aurangabad division, there was also a case of a dummy candidate taking the examination. In Navi Mumbai, there has also been a case of forging of the HSC hall ticket.

The Maharashtra board has taken several strict measures to ensure smooth conduct of the examinations and check cheating including strict timing, flying squads, and the opening of papers in the examination hall itself.
